Story Posted: March 4, 2009 2009 Performing Arts for Youth Production April 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. Nutana Collegiate The Intermediate class is doing "Hamlette" by Allison Williams: a 30-minute spoof of Hamlet with a heroine who is constantly referred to as a man because the society simply can't imagine a female as a main character. Cleverly witty for adults, while still goofy and fun for kids. Plays April 1 and 2, 7 pm, at Nutana Collegiate (Victoria and 11th St. E).
The Advanced class is performing A. A. Milne's '"The Ugly Duckling", which also looks at gender stereotypes, and a princess whose inner beauty proves more magnetic than anyone expected. Also plays April 1 and 2, 7 pm, at Nutana Collegiate (Victoria and 11th St. E).
Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults. Each show runs approx. 35 minutes. Complimentary dessert will be served between the two shows. For more information, phone 244-0127.
