Nutana Partnership Highlights
Our partnership with Nutana is growing in very exciting ways...it is a hands-on, active partnership, and one with which we enjoy spontaneity, flexibility, and off-the-record generosity.
Recent developments include:
- Re-animating the high school credit program...wherein SPSD high school drama credits are received for our program, up to a grade 10 level.
- Involving both myself as coordinator and our facilitators in consultations regarding the design of the new 3rd floor theatre space renovation.
- Coordinating our drama performances, and the school's own upper level drama class's performances, into a single week-long "Nutana Festival of the Arts".
- Annually sending referrals to our drama program from Nutana's grade 9 program.(we currently have 6 Nutana students enrolled in our program)
- A significant donation from the school to our program, from funds revenues generated during the "festival of the arts"
- The re-engagement of Shirley Leclaire (Family Service Saskatoon’s Drama program founder) with our program, through her work with the school.
The most wonderful aspect of the growing partnership, from my perspective as coordinator, is the tremendous spirit of generosity that permeates the school's interaction with us...in everything from the janitors making special trips on a weekly basis to lock and unlock the front doors, to a staff member coming out of the hair salon in mid-dye to hand me a needed key. There is never a grumble or complaint...it is always sincere, and appreciated immensely by us.
