Story Posted: December 22, 2010 Intimate Partner Violence Outreach Program This program has been in place at Family Service Saskatoon since July 2010. We are proud of this new service that provides support to individuals who have been impacted by violence in their intimate relationships. We know that violence occurs in relationships and affects both women and men of all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Violence is not only physical but verbal, mental, emotional and financial. Currently we have one full-time and four half time outreach workers. These outreach workers provide crisis support, short term counselling, and referrals to other services such as shelters, financial assistance, or legal aid. Drop-in groups are also provided for women in violent relationships. These groups are held on: Tuesday nights (6:30 – 8:00 pm) at the Westside Community Clinic and on Thursday afternoons (1:30 – 3:00 pm) at Family Service Saskatoon. There is no need to register for these groups and childcare and snacks are provided. For those who require outreach support, please phone our intake counsellor at 244-0127.
