Story Posted: December 14, 2011 Understanding Canadian Life A Guide for Newcomers Family Service Saskatoon is pleased to announce the launch of a new resource for newcomers to Canada. This booklet has been prepared to help familiarize newcomers to Canada with some of the cultural and legal aspects of family life in Canada. It is not meant to say that the way Canadians view family life is the correct way or the best way, but it is the way Canadian society and its laws have developed and it is important for newcomers to Canada to understand. Topics included are: the meaning of family, types of families, parental responsiblities, family gender relations, family dissolution, the government's role in families and a listing of resources. It can be downloaded from this website, or for printed copies please contact us at 244-0127.
